When applying to read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University, the first person whom I approached for guidance was George. With George's guidance, I gained a head start in incorporating clarity, concision, and precision in my essays. From my tutors' feedback, it is clear that George's approach is exactly what they look for in first-class essays. As a teacher, George’s greatest strength is his ability to inspire a true passion for the subject at hand. George encouraged me to study formal logic with him during my National Service days, and elucidated the most complex concepts to me with a degree of clarity that even my tutors at Oxford - leading academics each with over a decade of teaching experience - have not been able to match. Appreciating the intuition behind the frameworks in formal logic was the first step to me growing to genuinely enjoy studying it. For these reasons, I owe my first-class grade in the Preliminary Examinations, but more importantly, my love for Philosophy, in large part to George. He is undoubtedly the person to consult for those looking to bring their academic skills to the next level.

I've worked with Corey on 2 John Locke Essay Competitions, in 2023 and 2024. We managed to achieve high distinction on my first attempt, and we're currently waiting for the results for 2024. I'm also working with Corey on the Concord Review competition.

My experience with Corey has been brilliant. Each session provided me with detailed feedback that helped me improve as a writer in general-- not just for the competitions. His tips and suggestions make me a better writer overall.

George possesses deep insight into what makes for strong argumentation. Over our sessions, he guided me to recognise issues in my thinking and writing that I had not even been aware of myself and introduced an uncompromising model of structure and clarity to them. To say my lessons with him were eye-opening would be an understatement; he’s entirely changed the way I view writing.

Working with Corey has been immensely helpful in my academic journey thus far. Corey has helped me with written work for competitions since 2023. Despite the short time we have working together, he has not only helped me rapidly improve my research and writing skills but has also helped me secure shortlist status for the John Locke Essay Competition for two years in a row now.

When working on an essay, Corey provides invaluable insight and help on all steps along the way. Whether it be assistance with analyzing complex sources or crafting advanced arguments, Corey has been available throughout the entire process. His suggestions during the editing process are always massively helpful in guiding me to produce the best possible version of my essay.

Overall, Corey’s approach has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate complex research projects and be competitive in writing competitions.

When I was applying to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, George conducted mock philosophy interviews to prepare me for the interview stage of the application. The questions were expertly handpicked to match the level of difficulty I would eventually encounter in the interview and customised to encourage a progressively higher level of critical thinking. They covered a wide range of topics from moral, logical and general philosophy, and were beyond any of the resources I had previously accessed, including online Oxford interview guides. The mock interviews gave me added knowledge, confidence and crucially, the skills to express my reasoning pathway that my professors did eventually look out for in the actual interview. Having failed the application at the interview stage the previous year with similar grades, I am certain that George’s mock interviews were instrumental in getting my place. Additionally, the logic lessons that he conducted before term started gave me a massive headstart in the module that most of my batchmates found most challenging, contributing to my Distinction in Preliminary Examinations.
